1.) The company name originated from the Latin word “locus” which means a particular place or position. LocusUSA started out as Locus Location Systems, LLC with its first product, Safepoint, the only commercial-grade two-way portable and mobile radio locating system using TOA (time of arrival) instead of GPS. Currently, the company operates doing business as LocusUSA.
2.) Safepoint’s patented technology was conceived of by five engineers when they were investigating the properties of lightning. The initial patent covered a method of locating and tracking lightning via TOA. The early research and development of Safepoint led to DiagnostX, the only over-the-air radio analyzer that identifies, verifies and analyzes two-way radios 24/7 without user intervention. The company presently holds five US patents, one Canadian patent, and one Australian patent with others pending.
3.) DiagnostX systems are deployed in over 150 locations in North America from Orlando, FL to Anchorage, AK and one in Kuwait with the US Army.
4.) LocusUSA’s products are made in America in a 6,000 square-foot facility in West Melbourne, Florida.
5.) LocusUSA is a privately held company by two former owners of a central Florida television station.
